Kilgraston Families

The entire Glenalmond and Craigclowan community is saddened to learn that Kilgraston is closing.

As Perthshire neighbours of Kilgraston, both Glenalmond and Craigclowan share many connections with the families and staff affected and our thoughts are with everyone at this difficult and unsettling time.

There is an acknowledgement that Glenalmond and Craigclowan are similar schools to Kilgraston in terms of feel and ethos, and schools that would prioritise places for Kilgraston pupils, offering a smooth transition and continuation of education.

Glenalmond College and Craigclowan School & Nursery have recently merged, now offering an all-through education from Nursery to Upper Sixth. Glenalmond has a long tradition of offering both Scottish and English qualifications and an extensive co-curricular programme of sport, music, art, drama, clubs, societies and outdoor learning.

Glenalmond and Craigclowan are also faith-based schools. At Glenalmond we meet together every day in our beautiful chapel, which is the very heart of our strong community. Similar to Kilgraston, Glenalmond and Craigclowan each have a beautiful Perthshire campus and outdoor education is at the heart of what we do.

Both schools are able to accommodate families who will now be considering educational options for the future. In the coming days, Glenalmond and Craigclowan would welcome the opportunity to meet the staff of Kilgraston to offer support and to discuss possible employment possibilities.

Should families want to explore Craigclowan or Glenalmond, the following framework has been agreed by way of support:

  • Existing fee arrangements, including any remissions or scholarships, would continue for the duration of the next academic year (2024/25). These do not include VAT.
  • Registration fees for new Kilgraston families moving to either Glenalmond or Craigclowan, starting in 2024, will be waived.
  • Sibling discounts can be offered at the following levels, across both Glenalmond and Craigclowan: 12.5% / 25% / 50% for second, third and fourth children respectively.
  • We offer bus travel for day pupils via a number of routes across Perthshire.

We have prepared a Q&A document, which is available by contacting us directly, using the details below:

Email (Craigclowan and Glenalmond): [email protected]

Telephone (day and evening):

Glenalmond: 01738 842144 to speak to our Deputy Warden, Jenny Davey, or the Registrar, Judith Roberts. Please also use this number if you have children who would attend both schools.

We recognise that this is an extremely difficult situation for the entire Kilgraston community. This statement is intended to support and reassure Kilgraston families that we are available and ready to help, should you need us.
