Rowing Challenge

One of our pupils has embarked on an epic rowing challenge in support of our #Challenge175.

Instead of giving something up for Lent, Kate B (Goodacre's Upper Sixth) decided to set herself a challenge.

With her mother, languages teacher, Sasha Roberts and stepfather Nigel, she is rowing (virtually) from Perth Harbour to Kinlochbervie Harbour (where the family goes on holiday) - a total of 650 km.

Aiming for a virtual arrival on Easter Sunday, Kate needs to row at least 5.5 kms a day which she is managing currently.

At present the team has just passed Peterhead on the Moray Firth but have a long way to go up the northeast coast past Wick, along the north coast with Orkney on their right, then round Cape Wrath to Kinlochbervie.

To speed things up, Kate has decided to accept Mr Myers' 4/4/48 challenge and next weekend will row 4 km every 4 hours for 48 hours.

This should really help to cut into the kilometers, after which she will continue rowing and running as part of our #Challenge175 in order to hit peak fitness for the Coll24 10K run on 1st May.

Not surprisingly, chocolate and cake are still on the menu for Kate!

Good luck Kate, and Sasha and Nigel - wehope the weather is good and the seas are calm!
