The eagerly-awaited production of Spamalot will not disappoint!
Theatre lovers at Glenalmond College, prepare to find your Grail! We, the heralds of King Arthur, bring tidings of Friday, 10th December, 7.30pm and the one-night-only online stream of the 2021 Main Show, ‘Spamalot’!
Our eagerly-awaited return to staging big, brash productions is a right medieval riot. Chosen equally for its silliness and its brilliant va-va-voom, this truly is the show to remind us to always look on the bright side of life.
Based on the cult classic film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, Eric Idle’s riotous musical comedy has something for everyone, from irreverent humour to irrepressible dance routines, to romance of all shapes and sizes.
Bursting at the seams with a record cast of 73 students and teachers, the show takes its audience on a whirlwind journey through a land of knights, minstrels, monks, jesters, enchanters, aquatic maidens, and the occasional acrobatic frog and deceptively cute killer rabbit. Be warned!
Nothing is as it seems in the dark and very expensive forest! You may try to act on divine instruction, to seek a shrubbery or even to stage a Broadway musical, but many have perished in the attempt…
But on the other hand - fear not! On their perilous quest to entertain you as in the days of yore, our cast and crew have boldly faced down the many and various threats to life, limb and sanity.
Now, they are about to take their place in front of the footlights, for you our wonderful audience, with a greater understanding of the important things in life: how to perform a rumba, how to win at blackjack, and what to do when hit by a projectile cow.
We very much look forward to welcoming Glenalmond families to Spamalot (via the magic of streaming) on Friday, 10th December at 7.30pm.
Coconuts optional - but recommended. Our fabulous programme, collated by Mr & Mrs Little can be viewed Online.
**Due to licencing retrictions we are not able to share the production publicly, however Glenalmond College family members can obtain a streampass via BookTix to watch the streamed show. A Q&A with common questions about streaming is available to download as a PDF. Please note that our licensing restrictions require that we use a streaming platform for which there is a small fee - £2 per stream. Please also note that this is a Monty Python performance in parody style which does include adult humour.**
We will be also sharing a lively behind-the-scenes short film for all to enjoy via social media.
You can also enjoy a selection of pictures from the production Online.
