In March, Glenalmond College’s clay pigeon shooting teams travelled to the renowned Ian Coley Shooting Ground in Gloucestershire to take part in the Independent Schools Clay Pigeon Shooting British Championships. This annual event, hosted this year by Cheltenham College, brought together 37 teams from 15 leading independent schools across the UK.
The competition featured a technically demanding 50-bird sporting course, followed by a separately scored 50-bird flush, testing both precision and teamwork. Glenalmond’s Ladies Team delivered a standout performance, securing third place in the sporting competition and finishing joint second in the flush. Special congratulations go to Eva B, who achieved an impressive fourth place overall in the individual standings.
The Colts Team also rose to the challenge, placing fifth out of ten in their category. Notably, Archie C earned fifth place individually out of 40 competitors in the Colts division. In the highly competitive Senior category, Glenalmond’s Senior Team achieved 11th place out of 20 teams, with Lochie N securing 26th place individually out of 75.
We are extremely proud of the skill and sportsmanship shown by all our pupils throughout the day. Our sincere thanks go to the parents and staff who supported the teams, especially Mr Colquhoun and Mrs Logan, who made the journey to encourage the pupils. Special recognition also goes to Ms Culverwell and the coaching staff, who praised the teams not only for their technical performance but also for the maturity, camaraderie, and positive spirit they brought to the competition. We look forward to seeing these young athletes continue to develop in future events.
