Former Glenalmond pupil Ruth M Shackleton has just completed an incredible nine-day walking challenge - of almost 500,000 steps - for our #Challenge175 bursary fund.

Ruth was one of the first girls to attend Glenalmond three decades ago - and our first female CCF cadet - and has enjoyed a career including managing the RAF Red Arrows.

Last weekend she embarked on a coast to coast walk from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire - a distance of over 175 miles.

During the week Ruth had some very tough times, including days of incessant rainfall which left her muddy and with the threat of trench foot! However, she also had some wonderful views and experiences and, while footsore today, she is delighted to have completed the challenge.

Our thanks to Ruth for completing this amazing challenge to help raise funds for life-changing bursaries which will allow pupils to benefit from a Glenalmond education who would not otherwise be able to do so.

The grit and determination she has shown over the past week has been an inspiration to us all!
