Temperatures of -12°C, 17 hours of darkness, and a grueling 12km mountain biking course in the Scottish Highlands - welcome to the Strathpuffer. Widely regarded as one of the toughest mountain biking races in the UK, the event attracts competitors from around the world, testing their endurance, resilience, and skill.

This year marked Glenalmond College’s debut in the Strathpuffer, and the team of six riders approached the challenge with a mix of nervous anticipation and excitement. Over 24 hours, the team took turns completing laps of the icy, snow-covered course, pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits. Jakob Z showed exceptional determination by tackling back-to-back laps during the demanding 3am-6am shift, navigating technical, slippery trails with impressive skill.

Despite the harsh conditions, including sub-zero camping and frozen water pipes, the team adapted admirably. The snowy trails added a layer of complexity to the race, but the riders persevered and worked as a team with them ensuring that one rider was on the course for the 24-hours of the race. Their efforts paid off, with the Glenalmond team secured an outstanding third place in the 'Schools' category.

The magical sunrise on Sunday morning provided a stunning reward for the riders, marking the culmination of a weekend filled with unforgettable moments. The experience left a lasting impression on everyone involved, and the team is already looking forward to embracing the challenge again next year.

Congratulations to the team: Jamie W, Jakob Z, Finlay H, Ethan S, Rory B, and Vivienne S. Your achievement has made Glenalmond proud!
