Congratulations to all our pupils who received their 2024 SQA Higher exam results today.
We are delighted to confirm that an impressive 91% achieved grades A - C, well above the national average, with 55% achieving grade A - a 10% increase on the previous year’s results, rising from 45% in 2023.
Our language students topped the leaderboard, with 100% A grades achieved for all the Italian and German exams, and 71% A grades awarded to those that entered for Spanish.
This year we saw a greater number of pupils select Highers as part of their chosen educational pathway, with double the number of exam entries of last year.
These results are highly encouraging at a time when the College is significantly expanding the number of Highers it offers in the Sixth Form. From September 2024, we are pleased to be extending our Higher offering to include English, Maths, History, Modern Studies, Human Biology, RMPS, Business, Music, joining our current Higher subjects - French, Geography, German, Italian, PE and Spanish.
These will be offered alongside A-Levels and our BTEC in Countryside Management. This extended range of academic pathways offers breadth to the curriculum and greater flexibility for pupils, who are able to mix and match the three qualifications, designed to suit their strengths and, indeed, their interests.
Commenting on the results, the Warden, Mark Mortimer, said:
“I am proud of all the pupils who worked so hard to prepare for their exams, whether Highers, A-Levels or the BTEC. Of course, I am delighted that at every grade we have achieved significant improvement on previous years, but what matters more to me is that each pupil has fulfilled their potential, regardless of the specific grade.
“Adding academic value is what is important. On their behalf, I also congratulate and thank their dedicated teachers.”
This is a great start to our 2024 results and we look forward to receiving our A level and GCSE results later this month.
