Congratulations to our pupils who received their GCSE results yesterday. 43% of grades were marked 9 – 7 (A*to A) and 83% of grades marked 9 – 4 (A* to C). Glenalmond's GCSE results show more pupils gaining an A* grade and an improved value-added score compared to 2019, which is an amazing achievement in the context of the 2023 results returning to pre-pandemic grade boundaries.
Mark Mortimer, Warden at Glenalmond College, said:
“Five pupils received a full set of A*/A grades, along with 100% of pupils in Biology gaining A*/A, plus 85% in Physics and 71% in French. 82% of candidates gained an A*- B in English. Our top performer this year was Freya F who achieved an average grade of 8.75 across all her results. Ben E, Theresa B, and Nadia S also enjoyed an outstanding set of results, averaging grades of 8.6, 8.56, and 8.6 respectively. In total, 25% of pupils achieved an average grade of 7 or higher, which is a fantastic achievement.
However, I am equally proud of all those pupils who worked hard, did their best, and achieved the best results of which they were capable, regardless of the grade. That is what a Glenalmond education is all about. I am also very grateful to the inspirational teachers who supported, prepared, and encouraged them.”
